Abiding by quality over quantity.
The second month of this new decade is set to deliver an exploration of self, one that involves dreadful atmospheres and psychedelic death metal. This reflection comes paired with the visual contributions of Jef Whitehead in the form of Nightmarecatcher, the latest chapter by ÆVANGELIST out on February 28th via Hells Headbangers.
Nightmarecatcher is not a composition that consists of many tracks (3 to be exact), but the length of each embodies that of an unsettling cinematic experience. The Finnish duo, consisting of mastermind Matron Thorn and Stéphane Gerbaud (ex-Anorexia Nervosa), raises the tension and keeps one on their toes, exploding with blood curling growls when you least expect it. Maybe it's the fact that the record was made in the same space than that of ORANSSI PAZUZU, but opening track The Origin and End of All: Pain of the Fallen achieves the same psychedelic excellence of records like Värähtelijä.
