AT THE ALTAR OF THE HORNED GOD define ambient black metal with 'Through Doors of Moonlight'

Another I-Voidhanger release to push high up on your listening lists.

Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule's 'Time and Fate'

It may take a while for you to stop gazing at the wondrous Defenestrate-Bascule painting before you, but let it be known that the musical undertaking that lies beneath is just as exquisite. Heolstor of the mighty MYSTAGOS has given life to ALTAR OF THE HORNED GOD, a new entity that serves to envelop listeners in an esoteric, ambient black metal listening experience. Their new album Through Doors of Moonlight arrives on April 17th via the eclectic I-Voidhanger Records.

Harnessing from the vast sound palette of of ARCKANUM, URFAUST, and DEAD CAN DANCE, Spain's AT THE ALTAR OF THE HORNED GOD have conceived a richly layered offering that pleases audiences from across the heavy spectrum. Though black metal in nature, the use of djembe, varying synth, and mixture of electric and acoustic guitar make it an entity of its own. One moment you're enjoying the ritualistic hymns of Before the Flames of Undefiled Knowledge and before you know it, Prayer I bursts into unparalleled rage.

Heolstor comments:

“The album is a summoning ritual to the Cloven One, the One With Horns, a supplication for him to take us and lead us in an ecstatic journey down the River of Oneness, across the Many-Layered Earth.”
