Despite Norway's black metal recognition, the Scandinavian country produces more than just malevolent riffs with KVELERTAK's roaring rock compositions being proof of that. In entering the next chapter of their prolific career. the band have announced their new album Splid, set to arrive on February 14, 2020 via the band's new label Rise Records. This jam packed outing brings along new vocalist Ivar Nikolaisen, who's vocal performance adds an added layer of depth representative of the musical evolution transpiring within the Norwegian unit.
One listen through first audio sample Bråtebrann is enough to capture minds through a display of feel-good, ass kicking musicianship. Sweet heavy metal and classic rock collide once more, enticing one to bang their heads along with the rumble of each bass lick. Guitar tones are as crisp as ever and with Kurt Ballou (Converge) at the helm of mixing and production once more, you best bet that audio fidelity is golden.
KVELERTAK comment of the release:
"Splid ("discord" in English) is a deep dive into western gluttony, our own stupidity, and the abyss of the earth. Working with Kurt again has been amazing and we're extremely happy with the production. We've pushed ourselves to the edge this last year — musically, physically, and mentally. The result is one hour of catchy riffs, punk rock, and heavy metal influenced by a world in discord to accompany our way towards Ragnarok."
