Back in November 2025, guitarist Mark Morton referred to Lamb of God's current North American Tour as "the loudest, proudest, floor shakin’-est, earth quakin’-est, ear-splittin’-est, mosh pittin’-est, undiluted, undisputed HEAVIEST tour of the whole damn year,” Sure, it's subjective, but with a lineup as well-rounded as themselves, Kublai Khan, Sanguisugabogg, and Fit For An Autopsy, it's hard to argue against such a claim. You've got new blood, established metal and deathcore greats, and one of the best in hardcore/crossover in a touring bill. On March 17th, the Heaviest Tour Of 2026 kicked off at The Theater at MGM National Harbor, exploding from one band to the next in celebration of Lamb of God's latest album, Into Oblivion.

First on the books were contemporary death metal standouts, Sanguisugabogg — a behemoth in the live setting. Big riffs, bigger sound, and a filthy delivery took over the slowly filling area. Mid-level venue headliners opening a show speaks volumes of the caliber of a tour. Needless to say, the brief yet insane set gave early attendees a hefty start to their night.

The speed kicked up a notch with Fit For An Autopsy — masters in instrumentation. Tim Howley and co. know how to deliver big and their turbulent showing was exemplary throughout. There's no question as to why they're among the best in deathcore today, despite being a big influence to many over the years. The songcraft and showmanship was elite, as was the wall of sound that washed over the many in attendance.

From there, we got to turn the tempo down just a tad for a breakdown heavy, explosive live rendition of Kublai Khan gems. The Hammer, Swan Song, Antpile (1&2), and Self-Destruct among others got their shine, and it was met by an equally enthusiastic MGM National Harbor. For a tour billing itself as the Heaviest Tour of 2026, you can't achieve such a feat without bands as sonically big as Kublai Khan who are heavy in lyrics, heart, and sheer power.

The three preceding bands set the stage for the kind of crushing, high-intensity performance fans have come to expect from Lamb of God. The evening's headliners sounded razor-tight from the opening Ruin. Randy Blythe’s command was ferocious yet controlled, while the dual guitars of Mark Morton and Willie Adler locked into massive, groove-driven riffs with precision.

The set leaned heavily on fan favorites and modern staples, with songs like Resurrection Man, Ditch, Walk With Me in Hell, and Now You’ve Got Something to Die For among others forming the backbone of the night. No matter where you stand on the Lamb of God timeline, there was much to enjoy. It was both nostalgic and current, showcasing why the band remains one of the tightest live acts in metal decades beyond their celebrated inception.

You could feel the grit and intention behind every blood, sweat, and tear poured into the band's live show. The crowd reaction reciprocated the band’s intensity from start to finish, erupting into constant motion—circle pits, crowd surfing, and synchronized headbanging along the barricade. Lamb of God were immediate and overwhelming, feeding off the crowd’s energy and pushing the performance even harder as the night progressed. With a closer like Redneck following the showcase that was this performance, the bar had been set for a massive tour to follow.
