You can't stop steel.
When MIDNIGHT rolled through Santa Ana alongside DEVIL MASTER, ABBATH, and OBITUARY earlier this year, they left but charred remains following the dozens of crowd surfers and mosh pits that stirred from the get go. Though Athenar himself has stated that he doesn't pride himself in the production value of the band's records, it's via the energy in the live setting where one realizes the spectacle that is before them. It's natural, it's organic, and most importantly, it's fucking relentless.
Now entering the next chapter in the band's expansive lifespan, MIDNIGHT have become part of Metal Blade Records and are paving the way for the release of their new composition Rebirth by Blasphemy, set to release on January 24th, 2020. Following the release of the album's first single (and title track), the unit are presenting Rising Scum as an additional taste of what's to come in January.
Rising Scum introduces a much slower sound, distinct to the trademark black metal/punk hybrid that one knows Athenar for. Despite said differences, there is no compromise on aggression. It remains menacing and incorporates the same blood curling guitar tone present throughout Rebirth by Blasphemy, setting the stage for a blasphemous release to come.
Stream Rising Scum below and pre-order your copy of the record HERE.
If you find yourself in the East Coast, you'd be foolish not to kick off the year of heaviness with the official Rebirth by Blasphemy listening party, hosted by Metal Injection. The band will be performing a day right after to offer audiences an opportunity to bask in the madness via the live setting.
MIDNIGHT tour dates:
Jan. 10 - Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus *listening party
Jan. 11 - Brooklyn, NY - Market Hotel
