Melodic death doom, just the way you like it.
Minnesota's COLD COLOURS are a force to be reckoned with, given their ability to balance two opposite extremes into a seamless fusion of death doom. The band are celebrating 20 years since inception and they've released the new single Nightmare from their forthcoming album Northernmost, which is set to release on February 22nd, 2019. You can stream the track via Bandcamp.
Frontman Brian J. Huebner comments on the anniversary:
"If 20 years has taught me anything, it's that you have to believe in what you are doing. No matter how many roadblocks you hit over two decades. I am thrilled that we have 'Northernmost' to celebrate 20 years. Our best album so far? Without question, but more importantly, the best representation of who we are and should be. This album is a testament to the chemistry of the band in 2019."
As you can imagine from the glorious cover art, the music embodies the energy of the aurora in the winter solstice. If you appreciate the dynamic qualities of AMORPHIS, SWALLOW THE SUN, and INSOMNIUM, COLD COLOURS will be right up your alley. The effort was recorded and mixed by drummer Mike Andrie and mastered by Dan Swanö at Sweden's Unisound.
