We're well past the year mark from the release of Scoring The End Of The World (2022) (Roadrunner Records) and with an array of tours, remixes, and a deluxe edition of this Motionless In White culminating effort, it's clear that the possibilities of the record are truly expansive. The band is currently on the road for their Touring The End Of The World Tour 2023 line of shows and the recently built subvenue to the legendary LA Coliseum, The Torch, was host to the madness that this touring bill brings.
Prefaced by an explosive array of performances by way of Alpha Wolf, After The Burial, and hardcore trailblazers Knocked Loose, Motionless In White came in with a crowd eager to burst on moment's notice. Once the title from the band's debut EP, The Whorror (2007), was played on tape, tension rose and bodies began to inch closer to the elevated Torch stage. Meltdown then commenced and off we went into a tantalizing audiovisual experience.
Indian visual design company, Wolves, is responsible for a plethora of arena and festival level concert production, and they excelled big with the Touring The End Of The World Tour. Electrifying digital screens loomed over the ensemble as pyro burned on in the background of a commanding Chris Motionless display. More than a performance, it was theatre in motion soundtracked by a ripping score characterized for its moving choruses and expansive scope. To pair with the band's celebrated discography, the band were adorned in their signature attire, the likes of which includes vicious facemasks, eerie facepaint, and an appearance from their spirited Cherry Bomb dancers.
Guitarists Ricky Olson and Ryan Sitkowski were in prime form as they propelled the show's vibrant atmosphere to new heights. Track selections spanned from the band's latest to Reincarnate (2014), Disguise (2019), Creatures (2010), and more, exemplifying the breadth of the band's creative ventures. Regardless of where you stand on the Motionless In White timeline, there was much to enjoy from this memorable undertaking that alternated from era to era of the metalcore giants.
Guest vocalists, immersive stage designs, and creative video commercials and segments that allowed for wardrobe changes made this a much of a visual feast as it was a musical one. Choruses were elevated by a chanting crowd, the sound was massive, and a wonderful sight of the Coliseum as the backdrop made for one of the tour's standout stops so far. There's few metal tours this grand with an intentional approach to production, further cementing the scope in which Motionless In White operate in their contemporary form. This is a band at their best, touring their best, accentuating the power that exists in investing in your craft. Consider this a can't miss tour package.
